1. Information We Do Not Collect

SoldinSight does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Personal Information: No name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifiers
• Browsing History: No tracking of which eBay listings you view or your browsing patterns
• eBay Account Data: No access to your eBay account settings, messages, purchase history, or payment information
• Financial Information: No credit card, banking, or payment data of any kind
• Location Data: No geographic location or IP address collection
• Analytics or Telemetry: No analytics platforms, tracking pixels, crash reporters, or usage telemetry of any kind

2. Data Stored Locally On Your Device

SoldinSight stores the following data locally in your browser only using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server — including ours.

2.1 Cached eBay Listing Data

• What: Publicly visible eBay sold listing information — item titles, sale prices, sale dates, quantities, and seller usernames
• Why: To avoid re-fetching the same listing data on repeat visits, improving speed
• Duration: Automatically deleted after 24 hours
• Storage Limit: Maximum 200 cached listings at once. When full, the oldest entries are removed automatically
• Where: chrome.storage.local — on your device only, never transmitted

2.2 User Preferences

• Disclaimer acceptance: A single timestamp recording when you acknowledged the independent tool disclaimer
• Installed version number: Used only to detect extension updates and show a one-time welcome message
• Currency exchange rates: Cached rates from the Frankfurter API (European Central Bank data), stored for up to 12 hours to avoid repeat requests. No personal data is included in these requests.
• Where: chrome.storage.local — on your device only, never transmitted

2.3 eBay Fee Configuration

• What: eBay fee rates and calculation rules — public information bundled directly inside the extension package
• Why: To calculate accurate profit estimates without needing an internet connection
• Updates: Fee data is updated with each new extension version release
• Note: This is not personal data. It is static reference data included in the extension itself

2.4 Profit Calculator Usage Counter

• What: A local list of eBay item numbers and the timestamps when you ran the profit calculator on them. eBay item numbers are public identifiers — no personal information is stored.
• Why: To enforce a courtesy limit on profit calculator usage (see extension description for current limit details). This is stored entirely on your device.
• Duration: Each entry expires automatically after 2 hours. Nothing persists beyond that window.
• Where: chrome.storage.local — on your device only, never transmitted
• Note: Sold history viewing is always unlimited. The counter only applies to the profit calculator feature.

2.5 What We Never Store

• ❌ eBay login credentials or session tokens
• ❌ Your personal eBay purchase or sales history
• ❌ Any payment or financial account information
• ❌ Browsing history outside of eBay listing pages
• ❌ Any personally identifiable information of any kind

3. Network Requests Made by the Extension

SoldinSight makes network requests to two external services only. No personal data is transmitted in either case.

3.1 eBay.com — Sold Listing Data

• Purpose: To retrieve publicly available sold listing history for the eBay item you are currently viewing
• What is requested: Public sold listing data — item titles, prices, dates, quantities, and seller usernames. All of this information is publicly visible to any eBay visitor.
• What is NOT accessed: Your eBay account, private messages, personal purchase history, or payment information
• How it works: The extension makes standard HTTPS requests to eBay on your behalf, in the same way your browser would if you navigated there manually
• No data sent to eBay: We do not transmit your personal information to eBay. eBay receives only the same request data it would receive from any normal browser visit.
• Disclaimer: SoldinSight is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay Inc.

3.2 api.frankfurter.app — Currency Exchange Rates

• Purpose: To retrieve live exchange rates for the built-in currency converter
• What is requested: A simple public rate lookup (e.g. USD to AUD). No personal data is included in the request.
• Data source: European Central Bank reference rates, served via the free and open Frankfurter API
• Caching: Rates are cached locally for 12 hours to minimise requests
• Privacy: No user data, identifiers, or personal information is transmitted to this service

3.3 No Other External Connections

SoldinSight does not automatically connect to any other external services. There are no analytics services, no advertising networks, no cloud storage, no developer-owned servers, and no third-party data processors of any kind.

The ☕ Donate button in the modal header is a direct link to buymeacoffee.com. This link is only opened if you choose to click it — SoldinSight does not send any data to Buy Me a Coffee automatically or in the background.

The Search Google and Similar Listings buttons open new browser tabs using your item's product information as a search query. These are standard browser navigations and do not transmit any personal data.

The Check Sales button on eBay search results pages (/sch/) triggers background fetches to two eBay pages — the purchase history page and the listing page — on your behalf. These requests are made using your existing eBay session credentials (the same as any normal browser visit). No personal data is extracted or transmitted outside of eBay.

4. Chrome Permissions — Why We Need Them

SoldinSight requests the minimum permissions necessary to function.

4.1 storage

• Purpose: Save cached listing data, user preferences, and the rolling profit calculator usage limit locally on your device
• Scope: Local device storage only. No cloud sync. No external servers.

4.1.1 Theme Preference

Your dark/light mode preference is stored in chrome.storage.local under the key soldinsight_theme. This is a single string value ("dark" or "light") stored entirely on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere.

4.2 Host Permissions (eBay domains + Frankfurter)

• eBay domains (ebay.com, ebay.com.au, ebay.co.uk, etc.): Required to inject the sold history UI on listing and search pages, and to fetch publicly available sold listing data via the background service worker
• api.frankfurter.app: Required to fetch currency exchange rates for the profit calculator
• No other domains are accessed

5. Data Security

• Local storage only: All data is stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local, which is sandboxed to the extension and inaccessible to websites or other extensions
• XSS protection: All data displayed in the extension UI is sanitized before rendering to prevent injection attacks
• HTTPS only: All network requests use secure HTTPS connections
• Content Security Policy: A strict CSP is enforced in manifest.json, preventing unauthorized script execution
• No remote code: The extension runs only bundled, Chrome Web Store-verified code. No code is downloaded or executed remotely.

6. Data Retention

6.1 Retention Schedule

• Sold history cache: Automatically deleted after 24 hours per entry
• Calculator usage timestamps: Automatically deleted after 2 hours per entry
• Currency exchange rates: Automatically refreshed every 12 hours
• Disclaimer acceptance timestamp: Retained until the extension is uninstalled (a single date value, no personal data)
• Installed version number: Updated on each extension update, retained until uninstall

6.2 Automatic Cleanup

• Cache entries expire automatically — no manual action needed
• When the cache reaches its 200-item limit, the oldest entries are removed to make space
• Uninstalling the extension immediately and permanently deletes all locally stored data
• You can also manually clear all extension data via Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data

7. Children's Privacy

SoldinSight is intended for use by adults and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use this extension.

8. International Users

SoldinSight supports eBay sites across 6 regions: the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Germany, and France. All privacy protections described in this policy apply equally to users in all regions.

Because no data is transmitted to any server, there is no cross-border data transfer of any kind. All data remains on your local device.

9. Third-Party Services Summary

10. Your Rights and Controls

• Inspect your data: Open Chrome DevTools → Application → Storage → Extension Storage to view everything SoldinSight has stored locally
• Delete your data: Uninstall the extension, or go to Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data
• Opt out completely: Uninstalling the extension immediately stops all data processing and deletes all stored data
• No account required: SoldinSight does not require registration, login, or any form of account creation

11. Transparency

Chrome Web Store reviewers and users can verify all privacy claims in this policy by inspecting the extension source code directly in Chrome DevTools after installation. Every network request made by the extension is visible in the DevTools Network tab. No obfuscated code is used.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension's functionality. The Effective Date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Significant changes will be noted in the Chrome Web Store update release notes.
